The key message of the Bhagwat Gita is "play your role". When you play your role properly, there is no temptation, fear of failure, or greed for success. You are simply involved in the role, just like a player who is playing a sport. He enjoys while he plays the sport. Winning and losing are a part of the game. But he never stops playing. We have so many roles in life. No role is constant. Roles form and end with time. This role play confirms that I am not a businessman; for example, I am playing the role of a businessman. When this role is played, the best mentor, the best training, the best possible team, finance, shareholder value creation, all come naturally. Just as a player cannot win a game by deciding that I will not use my left leg in soccer, a businessman cannot let personal preferences stand in the way of business. He has to do what is necessary and right for the role. That is all.

Most of the modern gurus tell one to leave desires. It is simply not possible, as long as you are playing your roles. The awareness of roles brings clarity that the desires are not mine. They belong to the role I am playing. Many roles, Many desires. It is perfectly ok to have desires, as long as you are not attached to them. Acceptance of desires is far more powerful than suppressing them.
